Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts

These keyboard shortcuts all work in the Windows 8

1. Windows key (on its own)  Hitting the Windows key on its own brings up the Metro desktop. However, if you then start typing Windows will begin searching finding apps, files and settings.

2. Windows-I: Settings

3. Windows-D: Desktop
If you’re not using Metro apps and want a more familiar Windows interface, Windows-D opens up the desktop.

4. Windows-Tab: Switch apps
The familiar Alt-Tab keyboard shortcut still cycles through open applications in the centre of the screen.

5. Windows-H: Share charm

6. Windows-Q: Search charm

7. Windows-Z: App bar

8. Windows-C: Charms
Search for information, change settings, or send something to a connected device such as a printer or drive.

9. Windows-PrtSc: Screen capture.

How to connect multiple CPU to one set of Keyboard , Monitor and Mouse

We can connect  multiple computers to one setup of keyboard mouse and video monitor with the help of a hardware device called as KVM switch (abbreviation for "keyboard, video and mouse").
There are different types of KVM Switch:

USB - A Switch that uses USB cables for keyboard and mouse connections. Other things to look for in a USB switch include ability to share audio and wireless keyboard/mouse connectivity.

DVI - A switch for use with a DVI compatible monitor or monitors.

HDMI - These switches are used for connecting HDMI compatible displays. This is especially useful where high resolution displays are required.

DisplayPort - Another new market is for switches which support DisplayPort technology.

Multi-Display - A multi-display switch will allow for extended desktops across two or more displays. Displays can be VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort.

Rack Consoles - Integrated display, keyboard and mouse/touchpad units for use in server racks.

KVM-over-IP - IP switches use a browser to securely access servers/computers over the internet or LAN.

Multi-User - A multi-user switch will allow simultaneous access to the switch by more than one user from multiple locations.

F8 method of booting Windows 8 into Safe Mode

Windows 8 into Safe Mode from within the operating system. This method works just like it did in Windows 7.

To access it, press [Windows]+R to bring up the Run dialog box, type msconfig and click OK. When you see the System Configuration window, select the Boot tab. Then, in the Boot options section, select the Safe Boot check box, and then one of the available options, as shown in  Figure 1

Figure 1

You can boot into Safe Mode from the System Configuration tool.

When you click OK, the system will prompt you to restart, as shown in Figure 2. When you click the Restart button, the system will then reboot straight into the Safe mode option you selected.
